Snoop Dogg Nixes Hollywood Bowl Show, Supports Writers, Actors Strike

Rapper Snoop Dogg has pulled the plug on his Hollywood Bowl performance due to the ongoing writers and actors strike, reports CBS News.

“We regret to inform you that due to the ongoing strike and the uncertainty of when this will be over, we need to cancel the Hollywood Bowl show,” the rapper wrote in an Instagram post.

The concert, initially postponed from June to October, faced the heat as over 11,000 writers picketed major studios in LA, NYC, and other cities, demanding fairer terms from the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers during contract negotiations.

The strike’s impact on the entertainment industry remains a concern as tensions persist.

History was made in mid-July as 160,000 actors joined striking writers, forming a powerful labor movement after negotiations with the AMPTP faltered. The Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild united, initiating the first joint strike in over six decades.

Snoop Dogg responded to the situation by postponing his concert from June to October in support of the Writers Guild of America’s strike against Hollywood studios.

“We continue to stand in solidarity with all of our brothers and sisters in the WGA and SAG/AFTRA during this difficult time and remain hopeful that the AMPTP will come back to the negotiating table with a REAL proposal and we can all get back to work,” wrote Snoop.

Snoop further showcased his support by criticizing current streaming residual models during a Milkin Institute event last week.

“The streaming gotta get their (expletive) together because I don’t understand how the (expletive) you get paid off of that (expletive),” Snoop said. “I mean, can someone explain to me how you can get a billion streams and not get a million dollars?”
