Reality TV Couple Todd and Julie Chrisley Check In to the Big House After Conviction for Fraud and Tax Evasion Scandal

Todd and Julie Chrisley, the stars of the popular reality TV show “Chrisley Knows Best,” have been sent to prison after being convicted of federal tax evasion, reports FOX News. The couple, who were found guilty of conspiring to defraud community banks and the IRS out of more than $30 million, have been sentenced to a combined 19 years behind bars. Before turning themselves in, Todd took to Instagram to share a religious message with his followers.

“HE is always on time… #fightthegoodfight,” Todd captioned a video of a religious song performance.

Prosecutors have accused the reality TV stars of submitting fake documents to banks during loan applications and even going as far as to provide a false credit report and fake bank statements when attempting to rent a property in California.

The couple’s efforts to secure bail were denied in a recent court hearing, and things only went downhill from there.

Todd Chrisley received a 12-year prison sentence, while Julie received a 7-year sentence, after being indicted on charges of bank fraud and tax evasion in August 2019. As if that wasn’t enough, the Chrisleys will also have to complete 16 months of probation following their prison sentences. This is definitely not the ending anyone expected for the famous family.

“Todd and Julie are people of faith, and that faith gives them strength as they appeal their convictions,” Chrisley family attorney Alex Little said in a statement to Fox News Digital at the time. “Their trial was marred by serious and repeated errors, including the government lying to jurors about what taxes the couple paid. Based on these issues, we are optimistic about the road ahead.”
