Hip-hop legend LL Cool J has made a tough call and halted the release of his much-anticipated comeback album reports Variety. In a recent tweet, the 55-year-old icon revealed that he felt the album was unworthy of being released.

He was confident in the project just a month earlier tweeting, “I’m competing with myself on this new album. Wait til you hear this MF. 🎶 This year B. It’s coming.

Just a few weeks ago at the Grammys, he spoke with E! News of the project and showed no signs of doubt.

“I know all the tricks. I got this covered,” he said, going on to explain that the record was executive produced by A Tribe Called Quest’s Q-Tip. “I think honestly and sincerely that Q-Tip as a producer is unbelievable and what he did on this record for me, I think is amazing. So, the world will decide.”

However, on February 22, he said, “I’m really trying to figure this album out. SMH,” in a since-deleted tweet. “Just not feeling this album is worthy of being released. I tried.” “Not dropping it.”

After making headlines, LL announced that he isn’t giving up just yet. He later tweeted, ““Ugh Re writing the whole album. @QtipTheAbstract has the sonics sounding 🔥🔥🔥,” he wrote. “Give me an hour plus a pen and a pad.”

LL released his last album “Authentic” was released in 2013.
