Lil Jon Accuses Live Nation of Mishandling ‘Lovers & Friends’ Festival

January 31, 2023 | By Kali Girl

According to TMZ, Lil Jon claims Live Nation is using his hit song “Lovers & Friends” without his consent, leading the King of Crunk to threaten legal action. A letter obtained by TMZ Hip Hop details Jon’s attempts to negotiate a financial agreement with the concert-promoting giant over the popular Las Vegas festival, which he claims he’s not even performing at.

According to Jon, discussions with Live Nation regarding a potential collaboration began in May 2022, facilitated by his legal representative, Doug Davis. He believed that Live Nation would make the appropriate moves.

However, a year has passed, and Usher’s recent announcement of the 2023 lineup, featuring heavy hitters such as Chris Brown, Missy Elliott, 50 Cent, and Nelly, excluded Lil Jon.

According to sources close to him, Jon has been hoping to steer clear of legal battles and has been working towards a resolution for months. He openly acknowledges that his hit song “Lovers & Friends” from his 2004 album “Crunk Juice” is a cover of Michael Sterling’s 1991 track. Despite this, Jon asserts that his rendition is the one that has gained widespread popularity in the Black community, leading Live Nation to even name a festival after it.

To date, Live Nation has not released a statement.
