According to recent reports by FOX 11 Los Angeles, KTLA and KABC, Canadian rapper Tory Lanez has been denied a new trial following his conviction in December 2022 for the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. People, reports the 30-year-old artist, who is currently in custody, is now awaiting sentencing.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Herriford rejected Lanez’s request for a new trial on Tuesday, as per the above-mentioned outlets. The day before, Lanez’s legal representative, Jose Baez, argued that his client’s conviction on charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence was the result of various procedural errors, prosecutorial misconduct, discovery violations, and ineffective counsel.

Upon denying the motion, FOX 11 reported that Herriford said, “The court finds no error, prosecutorial misconduct or newly discovered evidence.”

Upon realization that the motion was denied, Lanez reportedly made a plea to Judge Herriford, “Your honor, please don’t ruin my life.”

The sentencing date for the rapper has yet to be determined. If found guilty, he could face up to 22 years and eight months in prison. Tory has been incarcerated since December when the verdict was delivered.
