Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s First New Year With Family After Prison Release

January 1, 2024 | By Kali Girl

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, recently released from prison after serving eight years of a 10-year sentence for the second-degree murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, embraced time with her family on New Year’s Eve, reports PEOPLE. “So, we’re looking to ring in the new year together. It’s going to be really awesome to have some family time after so long,” she said.

The 32-year-old shared her excitement in an Instagram video, part of a collaboration with the Lifetime network, ahead of the upcoming docuseries, ‘The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.’

Gypsy’s release has been marked by joyful TikTok videos and Instagram posts capturing moments with loved ones, as she reclaims her life after being entangled in the tragic case involving her mother’s Munchausen syndrome by proxy and a plot with her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE prior to her release, Gypsy expressed her desire to alter the course of the past if given the opportunity.

“If I had another chance to redo everything, I don’t know if I would go back to when I was a child and tell my aunts and uncles that I’m not sick and mommy makes me sick, or, if I would travel back to just the point of that conversation with Nick and tell him, ‘You know what, I’m going to go tell the police everything,'” she said. “I kind of struggle with that.”

However, she also clarified, “Nobody will ever hear me say I’m glad she’s dead or I’m proud of what I did. I regret it every single day.”
