May 22, 2023 | By Kali Girl

According to Hip Hop DX, Fetty Wap pleaded with the judge for a minimum sentence in his federal trafficking case, but he may be facing an even harsher punishment. In legal documents obtained by TMZ, Fetty asked for just five years in federal prison, stemming from his guilty plea following the October 2021 arrest.

Fetty’s lawyer told the judge that their client “accepts full responsibility for his crimes, but his conduct here does not and should not define him.”

However, federal prosecutors are seeking a 9-year prison sentence for Fetty Wap, alleging his association is with a major drug operation that flooded Long Island, NY, with an influx of cocaine.

The prosecutors stated that Fetty, “has used, and continues to use, his fame, sizeable platform and influence to glamorize the drug trade.”

In October 2022, Fetty was arrested prior to his performance at Rolling Loud NYC. During the investigation, the FBI obtained 16 kilograms of cocaine, $1.5 million in cash, fentanyl pills, two kilograms of heroin, handguns, pistols, and a rifle.

“I agreed with other people to distribute cocaine,” Fetty told the judge. “Guilty.”

Fetty Wap’s sentencing date is May 24.
