Broncos Players Reportedly Frustrated With Russell Wilson’s Attitude

Uh oh, it looks like there’s some drama brewing in Denver! According to the NY Post, sources close to the Broncos are saying that the team’s quarterback, Russell Wilson, has been causing tension with his alleged “me-first attitude.” According to insiders, Wilson’s teammates have been “seething” over his behavior, which has reportedly been putting his own needs above those of the team. It’s not clear how this beef will affect the Broncos on the field, but one thing’s for sure: there’s definitely some drama happening behind the scenes in Denver.

Shannon Sharpe unleashes on Russell Wilson in FS1’s “Undisputed” following the firing of Nathaniel Hackett and the Broncos’ 4-11 start

“Let me tell you what the problem is,” Sharpe said. “Russell Wilson has never been a 1-2-3 get rid of the ball [guy]… He was very good at improvisation. He was very good, Skip [Bayless], at getting off-script. Russell has lost athleticism. Russ cannot outrun anybody! So he can’t make those improvisational plays like he could for those first 10 years in Seattle. You [would] never see Russ get dragged down from behind. Now, Russ don’t look like he could outrun me.”

As former Denver Bronco Shannon Sharpe sees it, quarterback Russell Wilson’s declining athleticism and inflated ego have been causing issues for the team. Wilson joined the Broncos in March through a trade with the Seattle Seahawks, and before the regular season even began, he was given a massive five-year, $245 million contract extension.

This deal will be difficult to get out of in the next three seasons, as it includes $107 million in dead cap for 2023, $85 million in 2024, and $49.6 million in 2025. With buzz already starting to build about who the next coach in Denver might be, it’s clear that whoever takes on the job will have a major overhaul on their hands.
