Amazon’s New ‘Frequently Returned’ Label On Faulty Item

In response to ongoing concerns about the quality of products, Amazon, is taking a step towards addressing the issue with a new “frequently returned item” label. According to PC Mag, Amazon has discreetly begun attaching this label to products that have experienced a high volume of returns.
This move is serving more as an experiment, as the label has only been spotted on a handful of products so far, including a $499 turntable and a couple of summer dresses from lesser-known brands.

The label advises any would-be consumer to “Check the product details and customer reviews to learn more about this item” before buying.

Reportedly, Amazon started attaching labels to items sold through its own delivery system and those from third-party vendors that have experienced increased return rates for their product categories.

“At Amazon, we’re always innovating on behalf of customers to improve the shopping experience,” a company spokesperson says. “We’re currently showing return rate information on some product detail pages to help our customers make more informed purchase decisions.”

However, the label is easy to miss as the “Frequently Returned Item” warning is a small box placed under the introductory text, using similar font and coloring.

Amazon didn’t respond when asked why it won’t simply remove products with a high return rate.
